DESCRIPTION:Ghoulish Books is partnering with the Inside Books Project for a fun\, important horror book drive. \nOn Saturday\, October 14th\, from 10am-8pm\, we will be accepting horror book donations for those incarcerated in Texas. Simply drop them off at our bookstore in Selma and we’ll take care of the rest. We will also give out a gnarly BANNING BOOKS ONLY MAKE US SCARIER sticker to anybody who chooses to donate. \nOur address: \nGhoulish Books\n9330 Corporate Drive\nSuite #702\nSelma\, TX 78154\nFor this donation drive\, we are only really interested in literature that can be labeled horror\, as this genre is often requested by prisoners and we would love to help satisfy that demand. \nFor those who are not local and wish to contribute\, please send your donations to Max Booth III\, PO Box 1104\, Cibolo\, TX 78108. \n\nBooks we CANNOT accept as donations:\n\n\nBooks in poor condition (water damaged\, ripped or missing cover\, old/falling apart)\n\n\nHardcover fiction – these books are too heavy to mail\n\n\nEncyclopedias – these are too heavy to mail\n\n\nBlank journals / composition books – these have sadly been banned\n\n\nBooks with nudity or partial nudity (i.e. string bikinis) – these are banned\n\n\nSpiral bound books – these are banned\n\n\nMartial Arts books – these are banned\n\n\nBooks that contain detailed maps of Texas – these are banned\n\n\n___ \nAbout Ghoulish Books:\nGhoulish Books is a horror publisher and bookstore based in the Greater San Antonio Area. Inside Books is the only books-to-prisoners program in Texas\, where over 120\,000 people are behind bars. Inside Books Project works to promote reading\, literacy\, and education among incarcerated individuals and to educate the general public on issues of incarceration.

DESCRIPTION:Come join our writing club at Ghoulish Books (the only horror-themed bookstore in the Greater San Antonio Area). This is a free event and anybody is welcome to attend. \nThe current plan is for everybody to spend the first hour of the night quietly working on their own creative writing projects\, then the second hour everybody will get a turn to read something they’ve recently finished or are still working on and receive critiques from the rest of the attendees. \nBring something to write with (notebook\, laptop\, up to you) and something to read. You do not have to read anything if you do not feel comfortable\, but if you do choose to read\, please ensure you do not take more than 15 minutes. \nSnacks & drinks will be available to purchase in the lobby.

Roy’s debut novel\, Let the Woods Keep Our Bodies (published by Ghoulish Books)!\n\n\n\nLeo Bates knows what’s behind every corner in her hometown of Eston\, Maine\, where she’s lived her whole life. Some bad memories and grief for her late parents\, sure\, but nothing dangerous. Nothing unexplainable. All of that changes when her girlfriend Tate goes missing\, and the lead detective on the case blames Leo for the disappearance. Haunted by self-doubt\, Leo can only watch as the town she thought she knew deteriorates around her. She is forced to confront the painful truth about her parents\, this town\, and her relationship if she is to survive the following onslaught of conspiracies\, cryptic monstrosities\, and whatever is hiding in the woods where Tate was last seen.\n\nThe familiar becomes strange the longer you look at it. Leo navigates a broken sense of reality\, shattered memories\, and a distrust of herself in order to find Tate and restore balance to Eston—if such a thing ever existed to begin with.\n\n\n\n\n\nE. M. Roy (she/they) is a writer and lover of all things weird\, horrific\, and dark\, especially when those things have a social justice bend and are rooted in a queer perspective.
