IN DREAMS WE ROT Gets a Ghoulish Makeover

Holiday greetings, dear beloved ghouls!

It’s time we reveal a fun surprise we’ve been keeping secret for months now.

Most of our readers will already know here at Ghoulish we are big fans of Betty Rocksteady’s writing and artwork. We’ve published three of her books—Like Jagged Teeth, The Writhing Skies, and Soft Places—and numerous short stories in various anthologies and magazines. So you can imagine how thrilled we are to announce we will be reprinting Betty’s debut story collection, In Dreams We Rot. Originally published by another press back in 2019, it’s been out of print for several months. That’s because we’ve been scheming behind the scenes to relaunch a new edition. Behold, Betty’s sick-as-hell full-jacket illustration:

FICTION LIKE A FEVER DREAM

A voyeur becomes the one being watched, terrifying beasts are stitched together, strange new insects appear, ancient sex gods rise, and an island on the brink of madness falls apart.

Betty Rocksteady’s debut collection blends surrealism and horror, tearing apart tropes as words bleed and transform down unexpected avenues of nightmare logic. These twenty stories run the gamut from splatterpunk to somber. They’re hot and wet and nasty, guaranteed to leave you with an unspeakable sense of dread.

This new edition of In Dreams We Rot comes out next month (January 2024) and will include a bonus short story, story notes from the author, and an introduction from the publisher titled “Betty Rocksteady in 3D”.

All paperback pre-orders will come with a signed author sticker, and the first 25 paperback pre-orders will receive a signed illustrated print from Betty.

Pre-order from our webstore HERE.

Track it on Goodreads HERE and Storygraph HERE.
