June’s Ghoulish Events

Ghouls! It’s June and it’s very very hot. The sun is stupid and we hate it but what can you do? Seriously, what can be done? Can anything be done?

Anyway – we have some killer events lined up this month and we hope you attend every last one of them. Here are our on-site events at Ghoulish Books (9330 Corporate Drive, Suite 702, Selma, TX 78154).

Silent Reading Night at Ghoulish Books

June 18 @ 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Bring your current book over to Ghoulish and join us for an evening of silent reading. From 6:15pm to 7:30pm we will all sit around and read our individual books and just sorta relax with the energy only readers can generate. From 7:30pm – 8:00pm we will allow folks to do some late-night shopping before we close up.

We will have chairs available, but if you want to bring a comfy seat with you that is totally cool and encouraged!

Facebook event page.

Writing Club @ Ghoulish Books

June 20 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Come join our monthly writing club at Ghoulish Books. This is a free event and anybody is welcome to attend.
Sometimes the easiest way to be creative is to work in the same room as other creative types. So, for two hours every month we invite you to join us at Ghoulish Books where we will have tables and chairs set out for writers to work on their latest works in progress. Please bring your own method of writing with you (laptop, notebook, etc).
Snacks & drinks will be available to purchase in the lobby.

Ghoulish Book Club – MY SISTER THE SERIAL KILLER

June 27 @ 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm

The June 2024 pick for our Ghoulish Book Club is MY SISTER, THE SERIAL KILLER by Oyinkan Braithwaite! Come snag a copy directly at our bookstore while supplies last, then stop by Ghoulish Books on Thursday the 27th @ 7pm for an in-person book discussion.

You can also order the book through our webstore: https://ghoulish.rip/product/my-sister-the-serial-killer/

Feel free to discuss the novel throughout the month in our Discord: https://discord.gg/cbtk7EdhSt

Free Horror Movie & Pizza Night @ Ghoulish Books

June 29 @ 7:30 pm – 10:00 pm

Saturday Night Spookies is our monthly movie screening event! On the last Saturday every month, we host a FREE secret movie screening in our bookstore.
The movie title is always a secret until showtime. Saturday Night Spookies is typically hosted by Miguel Myers of the My Horror Confessional podcast.
Although these screenings are free, we do have limited seating, so show up earlier rather than later to reserve your spot. We also sell snacks & drinks in the lobby.
We will also have pizza available (for free!) but a limited amount–once we run out, we’re out!
Pre-show: 7:30
Showtime: 8:00
We cannot guarantee the movies we show are child-friendly, so bring them only if they’re responsible enough to handle R-rated material.

We also have one off-site event to promote, for those who live in the New York area:

Cerilli, November Rush, Meredith Rose, Charlene Adhiambo, Violet, and Thomas Kearnes.
